New iPhone Screen Problems

The screen freezes or goes blank.

If your Screen freezes or goes blank, then a Soft reset may help to resolve the problem.

To perform a soft reset on an iPhone XR, 11, X, XS, 12, 13 and 14, follow these steps:
  1. Press and quickly release the volume-up button on the left side of the phone.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume-down button on the left side of the phone.
  3. Press and hold the side button (also known as the power button) on the phone’s right side until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
  4. Release the side button when the Apple logo appears.
The phone will restart and should be back to normal operation. Remember that a soft reset will not erase any data or settings on the phone, but it can help resolve minor software issues and improve performance.

Why Do iPhone Screens Freeze?

There are several reasons why an iPhone screen may freeze. Here are some of the most common causes:
  1. Software issues: One of the most common causes of a frozen iPhone screen is a software issue. This can happen if an app crashes, if there are bugs in the operating system, or if there is not enough available memory on the phone. In some cases, a software update or restore may be necessary to fix the issue.
  2. Hardware issues: A frozen iPhone screen can also be caused by hardware issues, such as a damaged display, faulty touchscreen, or damaged internal components. If the screen has been physically damaged or dropped, this may cause the screen to freeze or become unresponsive.
  3. Overheating: If an iPhone gets too hot, it can cause the screen to freeze or become unresponsive. This can happen if the phone is used in a hot environment or if there are too many apps running in the background.
  4. Battery issues: If the battery of an iPhone is low or damaged, it may cause the screen to freeze or become unresponsive. This can happen if the battery is not holding a charge, if the charging port is damaged, or if there are software issues with the battery.
If your iPhone screen is frozen, you can try a soft reset (as mentioned in a previous answer) to see if it resolves the issue. If the problem persists, you may need to seek professional help to diagnose and repair the issue.

Ghosting Screens

If your iPhone screen is touching itself, meaning that the device appears to be registering touches or inputs even when you are not physically touching the screen, it may be caused by a few different reasons. Here are some possible explanations:
  1. A software issue: One possible cause could be a software problem that is causing the phone to register false touch inputs. This could be due to a bug in the operating system or an issue with an app that you have installed. You can try restarting your iPhone, updating the software, or restoring the device to see if this resolves the issue.
  2. A dirty or damaged screen: Another possible cause of a self-touching screen is a dirty or damaged screen. If there is dirt, dust, or other debris on the screen, this could interfere with the touch sensors and cause the phone to register false inputs. Similarly, if the screen is cracked or damaged, this could cause problems with touch sensitivity.
  3. A malfunctioning touch sensor: If none of the above solutions work, it could be a problem with the touch sensor itself. This could be due to a hardware defect or damage to the phone. In this case, you may need to take your iPhone to a professional repair shop to have the touch sensor replaced.
In any case, it is best to address the issue as soon as possible to avoid any further damage or frustration.

What Causes Lines on an OLED iPhone Screen?

Lines on an OLED iPhone screen can be caused by several factors, including:
  1. Physical damage: If the iPhone has been dropped or subjected to physical trauma, it may cause damage to the OLED screen. This can result in visible lines or other distortions on display.
  2. Manufacturing defect: In some cases, lines on the OLED screen may be caused by a manufacturing defect. This could be due to a faulty component or an issue during the manufacturing process.
  3. Age and wear: OLED screens can experience wear over time, which may cause lines or other visual artefacts to appear on display. This is more likely to happen with older iPhones or devices used heavily.
  4. Exposure to extreme temperatures: OLED screens can also be sensitive to extreme temperatures. Exposure to high or low temperatures may cause damage to the display, which could result in visible lines or other distortions.
If you are experiencing lines on your OLED iPhone screen, it is best to take the device to a professional repair shop to diagnose and repair it. Depending on the cause of the problem, the repair may involve replacing the display or other components.
